  • Let’s take a trip back through time, to learn the history of the country we all call home! This class will cover many main events and influential people from the exploration age all the way to the turn of the millennium. Since I offered this class to this age group last spring, and because I want to extend the time period covered, we will be moving quickly through 1400s-mid 1800s, almost like a review of main events/people, filling in a timeline as we go. We will get more in-depth with our study of the mid 1800s-2000s. The format will be a bit different from last time, so returning students will have a new experience. My goal for this class is to make learning history interesting, interactive, and fun!

  • Embark on a literary adventure where young readers dive into the chapter book, Mr. Poppers Penguins, building essential reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. In this engaging class, students will move beyond basic reading to explore the deeper elements of storytelling. Through guided discussions and hands-on activities, they will learn to summarize plots, understand character development, and identify the main themes of each book. Activities will include creating detailed lapbook with character maps, writing creative summaries of their reading, and participating in group discussions to share their insights and connect with the stories on a deeper level. This is a fantastic way for students to develop a lifelong love of reading and become more confident, thoughtful readers.

  • In this fun, hands-on class, students will learn how to create their own digital artwork and designs using simple drawing and design tools. We’ll explore how colors, shapes, and fonts work together to make eye-catching graphics while creating real projects like posters, stickers, and t-shirt designs. Along the way, students will build basic drawing skills and discover how design is used in everyday things like logos, ads, and products. Each student will get to bring their ideas to life and learn what makes a design stand out!

*** Students will need to provide their own touch screen tablet or laptop along with a stylus pen.

***Student must have access to e-mail (parental help may be needed) for teacher to help complete projects.
